Abstract/Description: The H. A. Raapke Architectural Drawings collection contains original architectural drawings and studies dating from 1891 to 1907. The collection includes 53 original drawings on 48 loose sheets (most 18.5" x 24.5", some with drawings on both sides) with detailed architectural drawings in pencil, some with watercolor accents. Some are stamped "Atelier Préparatoire D'Architecture, Godefroy & Freynet, 4, Rue du Dragon, 4 - Paris" or "Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Concours D'Emulation." Many are signed H.A. Raapké. The artist seems to have experimented with different stylized signatures with varying degrees of legibility, at one point apparently shortening the spelling to H.A. Rapké. At some point, the artist appears to have dropped the acute accent mark from Raapke. Some drawings are unstamped and unsigned. The range of dates of these drawings is from 1899 to 1907, with some sheets lacking dates.
