Abstract/Description: The second volume covers the period from 1979 to 2013 and contains news clippings, correspondence, event programs, newsletters, meeting agendas, photographs, and other organizational records of the Society of Survivors. Some of the documents are original and some are reproductions. The first half of the volume relates to the Holocaust Survivors/Liberators Dinner on April 7, 1979, including copies of thank you notes sent to participants, lists of veterans who attended or were invited to the dinner, media coverage of the event, and letters to the editor of the Jewish Press newspaper concerning the event. There was some controversy over the dinner not being kosher. The rest of the volume covers other activities of the Society of Survivors in the years following, including other Holocaust remembrance events and a commemoration ceremony at the Nebraska State Capitol. Also included are materials related to the Jewish Federation of Omaha and some activities they shared with the Society of Survivors. Also included are writings about the Holocaust, including a copy of the final draft of "The 87th Division and the Capture of the Buchenwald and Ohrdruf Concentration Camps" by Lloyd P. Jorgenson and Ross H. Rassmussen, information about a performance of The Train at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, reviews of the 1985 documentary film Shoah. There is also some information about Rose Blumkin, Louis Blumkin, and the Nebraska Furniture Mart. 3-inch-thick expanding two-post binder with black fabric cover and title page created by Sam Fried. Each item within is encapsulated in an 8.5" x 11" plastic sleeve. Tucked into the front of this volume are two copies of The Record: The Holocaust in History, 1933-1945, published by the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith in cooperation with the National Council for the Social Studies, copyright 1978, a 16-page paid supplement to the Omaha World-Herald newspaper. One copy has numerous passages highlighted. Both copies are in poor condition due to the deterioration of the newsprint paper, with cracks along the folds and torn, crumbling edges.
